Maintenance Technician

The Maintenance Technician will utilize their education, training, and experience to ensure all manufacturing, research and development, and building equipment and infrastructure is maintained in good working order. The Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining facility manufacturing and internal building equipment to ensure BrightView operations continue to run without interruption. The Maintenance Technician will take direction from the Manufacturing Engineer and will be responsible for repairs, preventive maintenance, safety inspections, process improvements, coordination of building infrastructure issues with the landlord, and other assigned tasks.
Proof of vaccination for the SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) virus is Required. Currently Mask Required in Any Public Area of Facility.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Maintain all operational equipment (Manufacturing and Research and Development) and facility infrastructure including repairs
  • Facilitate process set-up and start-up as needed to meet Overall Equipment Effectiveness targets
  • Collaborate with other functional departments in the scheduling of down time and PM repairs
  • Identify and correct equipment and infrastructure safety-related breakdowns, hazards, and related risks.
  • Maintain accurate and current records of equipment maintenance using the maintenance database.
  • Identify improvement opportunities and participate in improvement events as required
  • Identify and order replacement parts, planned spares, and other related materials as required
  • Participate in daily production and safety team meetings
  • Communicate issues and status of actions with supervision and leadership team

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • 5 - 10 years of experience as a maintenance technician or mechanic in a manufacturing environment, building maintenance, or industrial equipment repair operation.
  • Associates degree in technical discipline a plus
  • Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and plumbing systems

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
  • Able to troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, plumbing, pneumatic, hydraulic, or plumbing systems
  • Experience with operation and function of Programmable Logic Controllers.
  • Knowledge and application of OSHA regulations
  • Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organizations Preventive Maintenance system
  • Ability to use CAD software and read and understand engineering drawings and schematics
  • Ability to travel with an expectation of a minimum < 5% time spent traveling
  • Ability to act with integrity, respect, honesty, professionalism, and confidentiality

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

1. Climbing: Going up or down ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles and the like, using feet and legs and/or hands and arms. Body agility is emphasized. This factor is important if the amount and kind of climbing required exceeds that required for ordinary movement. Can be up to 20% of time involved with this activity during a day.
2. Kneeling: Bending legs at knee to come to a rest on knee or knees. Can be up to 10% of time involved with this activity during a day.
3. Walking: Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances. Can be up to 75% of time involved with this activity during a day.
4. Standing: Particularly for sustained period of time. Can be up to 90% of time involved with this activity during a day.

Up to 60% of time involved with this activity during a day.
9. Physical demands: Ability to lift up to 40 lbs. occasionally, and/or up to 25 pounds frequently. Need to occasionally use 100 lbs. of force to push an object and up to 10 pounds of force frequently in pushing an object.
10. Visual demands: Ability to perform visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, operation of machines, using measurement devices, assembly of fabrication of parts at distances close to the eyes.
11. Physical surroundings:
a. The worker is subject to inside environmental conditions: Protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes.
b. The worker is subject to noise: There is sufficient noise to cause the worker to shout in order to be heard above the ambient noise level.
