Micro lens array (MLA) films that turn a simple light source into custom patterns, symbols, and animations.
Recognized for Optical Innovation
On September 8, 2026, BrightView received the Optical Component Innovation Award at DVN Shanghai. Peter Peng, BrightView's General Manager for China, accepted the award, joined by Martin Vollmer, Vice President Innovation at Forvia-Hella.
BrightView's optical films are transforming automotive lighting with striking light outputs and visualizations, while making lighting assemblies inside and outside the vehicle lower in cost, thinner, and lighter. We thank the DVN committee for recognizing our optical film technology and innovation.
How Freeform Micro Lens Arrays Work
BrightView's MLA films are covered in microscopic lenses that work together to reshape light from an LED or laser into a precise output, from smooth, even illumination to sharp projected images, symbols, and logos. What makes freeform patterns possible is BrightView's large-format grayscale lithography. Rather than repeating a single lens across the film, our digital mastering system can sculpt each lens individually and vary it across the entire film, at sizes up to 4 ft × 8 ft. That level of control lets us turn virtually any design into optics. And because the process is fully digital, new designs move from concept to prototype quickly.
