Quality Engineer II

As a leader in Micro Lens Array (MLA) technology, BrightView Technologies designs and manufactures highly innovative MLA optical components. The Quality Engineer for BrightView Technologies is responsible for product quality assurance activities including support of the new product transition to manufacturing process, customer and supplier interaction, and ensuring conformance to product, process, and customer requirements, in accordance with the BVT Quality System. This includes ensuring conformance to operational parameters for the various processes, statistical analysis and control plans where required, and participating in the stage gate process related to the transition of new products to manufacturing. The position also fills in as the voice of BVT to the end customer or supplier on issues/questions of quality. This person is also responsible for managing the customer complaint process, and both internal and external nonconformity, root cause and corrective action processes related to product requirements and manufacturing processes. This role will require working in a clean room environment for some product and processes.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Act as point of contact for quality related issues with customers, internal functional departments, and suppliers:
    • Work closely with customers to understand their Quality requirements and create internal requirements and processes to ensure full conformance.
    • Work with various internal functional departments to firmly define the Quality requirements of products, processes, and raw materials.
    • Work with suppliers and internal functional departments to monitor incoming material quality, assess supplier capability, and ensure supplied materials meet BVT requirements.
    • Evaluate and recommend actions needed on out of specification products and processes. Manage and report on both internal and external non-conformances and lead root cause and corrective action activities.
    • Support and assist in maintaining/improving the company’s quality system including ISO certification
  • Support production by defining final inspection criteria and assurance processes (example: inspection of screens from the production Line and product qualification).At times may supervise hourly employees in the inspection of products and/or incoming material.
    • Help troubleshoot process issues that impact quality, cost, or delivery
    • Ensure all outgoing product certifications and reports are completed in accordance with customer requirements (i.e., first article inspections, PPAP, certificates of compliance, etc.).
    • Supervise the activities of the Sr. Quality Technician after initial on-boarding and training period.
  • Participate in various process / procedural improvement programs as requested
    • Support Stage/gate process through evaluation of requirements and if they can be repeated during production cycles (Capability study if necessary).
    • Manage required metrics (both for internal and external use)
    • Perform other duties as assigned
Education and/or Experience Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or other technical discipline
  • 5+ years’ experience in Quality Engineering, Quality Management or other process related field required.
  • Experience in using a quality system that is either ISO-9001 compliant or certified.
  • Preferred experience in high technology manufacturing particularly related to electronics or automotive industries; any roll-to-roll manufacturing background a plus
  • Experience with IATF 16949, Automotive Quality Management Systems or automotive customers is a plus
  • Experience in clean room environments a plus
